NY and Company has been in retail for over 80 years with the company currently located in Flushing, Queens, NY.  Founded by Joseph J. Lerner in 1918 in New York City, New York and Company was previously traded under the name Lerner New York.  During the 1960's, Lerner New York was controlled by The Rapid-American holding company controlled by Meshulam Riklis, which also controlled McCrory stores. In 1985, Lerner New York was purchased by The Limited, who owns brands such as Express and Victoria's Secret.  When Lerner New York was sold by the Limited in 2002, the company operated as both “New York and Company” and “Lerner New York”.  Today the company operated under the name New York and Company and offers propriety branded merchandise through an exclusive network of retail stores as well as online and through catalog sales.  New York and Company currently operated more than 500 retail stores in 45 states.
