Great for smaller frames the Perfectly Fit t-shirt bra by Calvin Klein has seamless, molded cups and a deep plunging neckline. The thin straps are embossed with the brand logo for a subtle designer touch. The band and straps are tailored for petites.

As a petite, don't be mislead by the photos in glossy lingerie catalogs featuring models bursting out of their bras.  The proper petite bra offers a bit more coverage and support while still looking attractively feminine.

Petite Bra Fitting

You need to know your bra size to find the right petite bra and the only way to really know is to measure yourself.  For your bra size, measure around your body with a tape measure just under your arms with the tape meeting at a point above your upper chest.  If it measures evenly, such as a 32”, that is the size of your bra.  If the measurement is odd, such as 33”, the petite bra size will be rounded up to 34”.

To find out your cup size, measure around the fullest part of your bust while you are wearing an unpadded bra.  Subtract your band size from your cup measurement and a difference of less than 1 inch is AA, one inch is A, two inches is B and 3 inches is C.

Tips for Choosing a Bra

After you know the right size bra to wear, consider a few tips for choosing a bra that feels comfortable and works well:

  • the back of your bra should never be higher than the front;
  • most women have one breast that is larger than the other so you should select the cup size of the bigger breast and adjust the bra strap for the smaller breast for a balanced look;
  • the tops and the sides of the cups should be smooth as wrinkling indicates a smaller cup size may be required;
  • the center seam of your bra should rest flatly against your chest or you may need to increase a cup size; and
  • your breasts should fit securely in the cup and not bulge out over the top or sides of your bra or you may need to go up a cup size.

Types of Bras

There are all types of bras for different purposes including:

  • sports bras for active wear that offer extra support for activities such as running or aerobics;
  • sleep bras for soft support under nightwear;
  • maternity bras for pregnant women
  • nursing bras for women nursing after pregnancy;
  • strapless bras to go under clothing that has no straps;
  • convertible bras that can be “converted” into bras with various straps or strapless to accommodate various outfits;
  • underwire bras with a wire under the breasts for support; and
  • traditional bras of all sizes, shapes and colors depending on your figure type and personal preferences.

With the right bra and the proper fit, you will feel confident about your unique shape.
