For the office:

1. Tailored Suit: This is an essential item for all women. You should have at least one tailored suit for interviewing, important meetings etc. Most men custom tailor their suits. Some men even go as far as going to Europe to buy custom tailored suits. Women have even more of a reason to have a custom tailored suits - to fit their unique body dimensions. Your best choice of colors is black as it is easier to match with other colors and the color will stand the test of time. Choose a suit made of good quality fabric that maintains it's shape and is good for any season. 2. Classic Dress Pants: A great pair of petite classic pants can be work in the office to evening with a few simple changes to tops and accessories. Black is always the easiest color to match with anything, other colors like navy, gray or chocolate are good choices as well. Wear it to work with button downs, sweaters, silk blouses and belts. Tip: Find the pants that falls straight from the widest part of your hip. Good places to shop for petite dress pants is Banana Republic, Old Navy (budget alternative), and Express (free tailoring of any pants).

3. Classic White Shirt: Seems that white shirts are a thing of yesterday formany women (even for interviews), but still worthwhile having around just in case. Choose materials that wont wrinkle, silk/cotton blends are best.

4. Work Dress: Every once in a while, it's nice to wear a dress for work. A work dress should be sophisicated enough so that it's appropriate for work setting. You may want to choose solid colors and stiffer materials than an every day dress. An alternative is to wear a nice day dress with a jacket top to give it a professional flair.

5. Five Great No-brainer Work Outfits: Deciding what you're going to wear should not consume your mornings. Identify five great outfits out of the things that you have so you can grab them at moments notice and focus your attention on more important things like your hair, having a breakfast or listening to a podcast. Having at least 5 great outfits for every season will save you tons of time!

6. Black Pumps: A pair of quality and comfortable black pumps is a must for every woman. A good pair will last through several seasons. Go for a basic pair that will be be good for work or an evening.
